The latest on Rhett...

We ended up following Rhett's escorts to his new abode, Top Flight Academy, in Mt Pleasant, Utah. It is about 2 hours North of Loa. He was pretty sedate after his shower and shave, and with new clothes and shoes on, he looked great! During the last 24 hours in the field, he had really put the pressure on about the whole idea of aftercare, and especially having to be taken by escorts. He wanted us to take him, but of course, what he really wanted to do was to have 2 hours to hammer on us about coming home. It was pretty tough. After we got there and signed the papers, (he was going through an orientation process in another part of the facility) we got to say goodbye to him. That was really tough; he pulled out all the stops, telling us how much he hated it there already, how we could not explain to him why he needed to be there, how he wanted to get a job, and on and on. We just about caved, but then we said a prayer, and felt.... calm.  We wish he was home, but the strong recommendation of his therapist was that he go to aftercare, and we felt it was the best thing as well. Welcome to the Aspen Parents Blog; a place where we can all stay connected and keep our communication lines open. The experience we all shared at Aspen was truly unique. We have the option to keep our friendships alive, and why not?

The nice thing about a blog is that it provides something like a bulletin-board that you can access whenever you want, for as long as you want. You can be notified via email if people post messages, or you can just check in periodically.

We are all in the same boat in many ways with our children. Let's stay in touch, advise and support each other. There is great strength in numbers, and we now have a common experience and understanding that binds us to each other.
